Chinese police have arrested a 62-year-old man for allegedly shooting six people to death.
Four of them were his colleagues on a chemical factory in Shanghai. One of them was the manager.
The 62-year-old’s massacre began when he got into an argument with a colleague over money on Saturday, reports the AP. Shanghai Police said that the dispute became violent and the man finally killed his colleague with a tool.
After that, the man taking up a hunting rifle that he had hidden in his dormitory at the factory in the Baoshan district in Shanghai. Then the 62-year-old took a taxi to another district. During the trip, he shot the driver of the taxi.
Then he took over the vehicle and returned to the factory at Baoshan district. Upon arrival, he killed a soldier guarding the entrance to the barracks. He then took the dead soldier’s rifle and went into the factory.
Another three people were shot with the hunting rifle, one of them must have been one of the factory managers. Shanghai police report that 62 year old man was arrested at the factory, six hours after the first death occurred.
Shootings of this nature are rare in China, where it is illegal for individuals to possess arms. But regulatory approval can be given for different types of firearms.
